Laminate systems handle temperature swings better than solid wood, which moves with humidity, so an unheated seasonal house is a laminate job in almost every case. Damp is the bigger risk rather than cold, so we keep the system off exterior walls where the layout allows and leave air space behind panels.

Do I need to empty the closet before you arrive, and what happens to everything in it?

Empty it completely, including the shelf above the rod, and take the door off if that is easier for you. We do not sort, donate or store belongings. Homeowners who treat the emptying as a chance to cull usually end up with a smaller and cheaper design than the one they came in for.

The bedroom is upstairs and the staircase has a tight landing. Can a system still get up there?

Yes. Components go up in pieces and get assembled in the room, so the constraint is the largest single panel rather than a finished cabinet. We check the stair and the landing during the measure. If a panel will not make the turn, we redesign around it before the order goes in rather than finding out on install day.
