Custom Closets in Salem NH: Maximizing Your Space with Quality Storage Solutions

Closet Design and Installation in Salem, NH

Transform Your Home with Custom Closets in Salem NH

Your closet gets built in the same town you live in. The shop is at 8 Industrial Way, and every panel that ends up on your bedroom wall is cut there.

That proximity changes small things you would otherwise never think about. A part that comes out wrong gets recut at the shop and driven over. Nobody is pricing a long round trip into your job. What follows is one closet walked along that route, from the saw to your wall.

Custom Closets Designed for Your Unique Needs

Custom closets start at your house rather than at the shop. A designer measures the opening, the ceiling height, the baseboard and the door swing, then writes those numbers on a drawing you keep.

Salem holds a wide spread of housing for one town. Postwar ranches and raised ranches on the north side. Older stock around the Depot. Condominiums and apartments that have gone up around Tuscan Village, on the former Rockingham Park site. Canobie Lake sits inside town limits too, so a cottage near the water and a new two-bedroom flat can land in the same week’s work. No two of those rooms share a dimension, which is why custom closets here are not ordered off a size chart.

Closet Systems That Offer Storage Solutions

Once you sign the drawing for your custom closets it becomes a cut list. Panels are cut to your figures, edge banded, and bored for the shelf pins and hardware the drawing calls for.

A custom closet is a stack of parts that fit exactly one room. That is why the measurements get taken twice, and why a change made after approval moves your date. Ask at the visit what the current gap is between approval and install, and get it written onto the quote.

Murphy Beds: Smart Solutions for Limited Space

A wall bed travels the same route out of the same shop. It answers one specific problem: a room that has to be an office five days a week and a bedroom twice a year. Closed, it sits shallow against the wall, with cabinetry either side carrying the storage the room gave up.

Check your ceiling height before you get attached to a layout, because a vertical-lift bed and a side-lift bed want different walls, and a room with a sloped ceiling will usually take only one. There is more on our Murphy beds page.

High Quality Materials for Long Lasting Closets

Our custom closets use thermally fused laminate panels, edge banded in 3mm on every exposed edge, and drawer hardware is full extension with soft close. Those specifications are worth writing down before you compare quotes, because they are where a cheaper closet gets cheaper.

A shallow drawer box looks fine on install day. So does a three-quarter extension slide. Both behave differently in year five. One local advantage worth naming: when a panel turns up damaged, it gets remade at the shop down the road rather than going back into a queue somewhere else.

The design visit for custom closets costs nothing and ends with a drawing that has a price on it. Book it for a time when the person who cares most about the room can be in it.

Bring your questions about cost to that visit, since the drawing and the price arrive together and there is no second appointment for pricing. If you want more than one room looked at, say so when you book, because it changes how long the designer allows.

Why Choose Mad Garages and Closets?

One thing is true for a Salem buyer that is not true for a customer thirty minutes south. You can drive past the building where your panels are being cut.

When a job needs a return visit for an adjustment, that visit is a short drive rather than a scheduling problem. The crew that fits your custom closets loads out of a building in your own town, and that is the difference this page is actually about.

Custom Closet Questions from Salem Homeowners

We searched for closets in Salem and half the results were Salem, Massachusetts. Which one are you?

Salem, New Hampshire. The shop is at 8 Industrial Way, here in town. It is worth checking which Salem a search result means before you book anyone, because the two towns are a long way apart and share nothing but a name. If you are in Salem NH, you are as local as a customer gets to this business.

What leaves the house at the end of install day, and who deals with the old shelving?

Custom closets arrive with packaging, and that plus the offcuts and the old wire shelving all have to go somewhere, so settle that before the truck arrives rather than on the day. Ask whether removal and disposal sit inside the quote or outside it, and get the answer in writing. What you should expect either way is that nothing is left in the driveway overnight and the room is swept before the crew leaves.

It snows the night before our install. Does the job slip a week?

Less often here than anywhere else we work, because a crew that starts the day in your own town has options a crew driving up from Boston does not. What does move a date is a driveway that has not been cleared. Panels get carried in by hand, and ice at the threshold is a genuine hazard. Clear a path to the door you want used and the day generally holds.

Our condominium is new, so the closets came with the unit. Does replacing the builder’s shelving affect the builder warranty?

Usually not for the shelving itself, since a wire rack is a fitting rather than a structural element. Your warranty is a document, though, so read the clause instead of guessing. What matters more is the wall behind it, so ask the builder whether the closet walls carry anything and keep the paperwork from your closeout binder handy at the measure visit.

We are moving out of a house into a condominium here where the closets are half the size. Should the design happen before the move or after?

Before, if you can get access. A designer measuring an empty unit can plan against your list of what is coming rather than against what is already jammed in. The install then happens into empty rooms, which is the easiest day this job will ever have. The catch is that you need a realistic inventory of what is actually making the move. If that list is still being argued about, measure now and hold the drawing until it settles.

Scott and his team did a fantastic job on our garage. He was very responsive and easy to work with. The advantage of his company is they are able to do both flooring and cabinet work, unlike most other companies in the area. Pricing is competitive and we are very happy with the work. We will be using them again in the future.

Great experience with the Mad Garages and Cabinet team. They arrived and went right to work. They were efficient and very easy to talk to. They explained the various steps and what the expected results were. Once the job was completed you'd never have known they were there, other than a brand new floor.
Highly recommend Scott and his team.

Scott was incredible. He was extremely helpful and knowledgable as we designed the room together and he laid out all my options and choices. He was incredibly personable and helpful, and he laid out a clear cost and timeline and stuck to it perfectly. He also listened and remembered my concerns and preferences and incorporated them into the design every chance he got.

When it came time for the install his crew was extremely nice and professional and FAST. They got everything sorted and asked me questions and gave me pointers as they saw opportunities.

I truly cannot say enough good things here. If you need something done within their prevue, go with them. It’s as simple as that. They will go above and beyond at every single phase.

Now I’m off to go unpack all my books in my dream library that we get to enjoy now
